ConteraVMS: How to perform a export / import

Best Practices:
Ensure that when importing a config file, the config version is equal or lower than the version currently running on the NVR.
Importing a config from a newer version into older software has the potential to cause instability as with each Major version, database formats may change and not import correctly.

Issue:

• A ConteraVMS has been set up and a backup consisting of all changes needs to be made.
• Camera licenses got corrupted.

Resolution:

Export: This function exports configuration settings from this recorder to a file. This file can be imported later to restore the saved settings.

1. Login to the ConteraVMS.
2. Click Setup > General Configuration > System Settings > General Settings > Export. You can export it to the local PC or export it to ConteraWS.
   
   
   
   
3. Save the file to your workstation.
   1. Note: It is recommended to include the software revision of the ConteraVMS in the filename.

Import: This function imports configuration settings from a file. This will modify the current configuration settings to match those in the file.

1.  Login to the ConteraVMS.
2. Click Setup > General Configuration > System Settings > General Settings
3. Under Import you have 2 options.
   1. Complete Restore - Use this option when restoring to the same recorder or a replacement recorder.
   2. Partial Restore - Use this option when using this configuration file as a template for other recorders. Unique Camera Identifiers will not be copied.
4. Click Select Import File and browse to the location of your backup. Click Import to begin the process.
