Problem
ArecontVision cameras in exacqVision have a low framerate.
When you add an ArecontVision camera to exacqVision using the ArecontVision driver, exacqVision defaults to 1fps and Constant Quality. These settings impose a data/bit-rate cap (constant rate-limit), preventing the camera from transferring high-quality images to the server at a maximum framerate.
Default exacqVision settings
Solution
We recommend changing the Image Rate to its maximum setting (or your desired framerate) and changing Rate Control from Constant Quality to Maximum Bitrate. See the example in Exacq software below.
Updated exacqVision settings
Exacq's default maximum bitrate is very high (15000kpbs); we suggest lowering it to 10000kbps or less. In general, we recommend the following bitrate settings:
- 6000 kbps for most megapixel cameras
- 24000 kbps for multisensor cameras (6kbps per sensor)
- 10000 kbps for 4K cameras.
Wireshark Example
The following example shows RTSP requests with both exacqVision default settings and with our recommended settings.
As you can see, the second RTSP request (recommended settings) includes ratelimit=<maximumBitRate>, resulting in a better overall experience.
